Gleann Eallaigh Naomh Seosamh Club Notes w/c 25 May
Training continues on Thursday at 6.30 for all U6s, U8s and U 10s (boys and girls); all players welcome. Glenelly hosted the U 8 blitz last Saturday with teams from Clan Na Gael, Drumquin, Gortin and Greencastle taking part. Many thanks to the parents (for organising the hospitality), the match referees and all who helped organise and make it a very enjoyable occasion. The U 10s have a blitz this Saturday (30 May); details of venue etc. to be provided at training on Thursday. The Seniors and Reserves both recorded wins away to Drumquin on Saturday. There are no adult fixtures this weekend. The Senior Ladies had a comfortable win over Strabane Sigersons on Thursday night. Minors played Tattyreagh away on Tuesday night. U14s lost out to Ardboe in the league quarter finals on Saturday. The next ladies committee meeting takes place on Sunday 7th June at 5pm before men’s. The club extends our sincere sympathies to the families of Seamus Harley and Frank McElvanna (Madden).

The Seniors and Reserves have away fixtures against Drumquin on Sunday. Senior game 2.15pm, Reserve 3.45pm. Unfortunately the U14s were defeated 3.8 to 3.6 in their Championship Preliminary Round v Cookstown on Saturday. They played Beragh in their final league match winning 9.9 to 3.6. The league quarter final away to Ardboe takes place on Saturday at 1pm. All support appreciated! Training continues on Thursday at 6.30 for all U6s, U8s and U 10s (boys and girls); all players welcome. The U 8s have a blitz this Saturday (23 May); details of venue etc. to be provided at training on Thursday. The U10s had a very enjoyable blitz last Saturday in Kildress playing Eglish, Clan Na Gael, Greencastle, Ardboe in addition to the host Club. Many thanks to the Kildress Club for their hospitality. It is the responsibility of Parents/Guardians to complete the Parental Registration form including any medical history and inform the relevant coaches. Parents/Guardians not wishing their child to be included in team photos, videos, etc must state this when completing the form. U14s continued their league programme away to Pomeroy on Tuesday night. U14 Championship will take place on Saturday away to Cookstown – Time TBC. The final U14 league game is on Monday 18th May at home v Beragh at 7.30pm. All players in Glenelly for 7pm. Minors will be taking a break from training for a few weeks. Seniors and Reserves both recorded wins on Sunday. The senior ladies defeated Donaghmore 4.13 1.01. Training continues on Thursday at 6.30 for all U6s, U8s and U 10s (boys and girls); all players welcome. The U 10s have a blitz this Saturday (16 May); details of venue etc. to be provided at training on Thursday. There will be another chance to register your child for this season after training. Membership is £10 per child. Well done to our young players who played (under terrible weather conditions) during the half time interval of last Sunday’s senior game. Commiserations to Sean & Noel O’Kane who are involved with the Donegal Ladies team that lost out to Armagh in Saturday’s Division 2 League Final. Good luck to Tyrone Seniors and Minors in Ballybofey on Sunday. Votes of sympathy were passed on for the family of Bridget Conway. The Seniors and Reserves have home fixtures on Sunday against Owen Roes. Senior game 2.15pm, Reserve 3.45pm. Senior team defeated Errigal Ciaran last week while the Reserves lost out. Training continues on Thursday at 6.30 to 7.30 for all U6s, U8s and U 10s (boys and girls); all players welcome. There is no blitz this weekend due to First Holy Communion. However, similar to last Sunday, which was a great success, the Club plans to have our underage players play a game during the half time interval of the next Sundays Senior Game; further details will be provided at training. Monthly Committee Meeting takes place next Monday evening (11th)at 8.00PM. The club would like to thank the organisers and the U-8s and 10s children who provided the match entertainment during the half-time break last Sunday. It was a delight to watch Glenelly stars of the future in action. Would anyone willing to become involved in the serving of the food or in organising a Half-Time Draw please contact any Committee member as soon as possible – your help would be very much appreciated. The Seniors and Reserves have home fixtures against Errigal Ciaran on Sunday. The Senior game is at 2pm followed by Reserves at 3.30pm. Congratulations to senior ladies on their first win of the season. Well done to the U14s who continued their season with a 6.10 to 4.03 victory away to Dromore. U14s play Beragh in the League at 11am on Saturday. All players in Plumbridge for 10.30am. Training continues on Thursday at 6.30 to 7.30 for all U6s, U8s and U 10s (boys and girls); all players welcome. The U 10s had a blitz on Saturday past in Gortin; many thanks to the St Patricks Club for their hospitality. The U 8 blitz scheduled for the 9 May has been cancelled due to First Holy Communion being held that same morning. It is hoped however to get the U 8s playing during the half time interval of the next Senior home game; further details will be provided at training. Sean McConnell and Eddie McCullagh were the joint winners of the club’s Last Man Standing Fundraiser. Anyone interested in the creation of our Club’s Website is asked to meet on Friday evening at 7.00PM in the clubrooms. Glenelly Festival Committee is organising a Vetting Evening this Thursday (30th April) at 7.30PM in Glenelly House. Anyone who wishes to be Vetted is asked to bring along all the relevant documentation on the evening.(Please see our Facebook page for further details) As the process is now moving online – this will allow everyone to be vetted in a quicker and more straight-forward way, and everyone is urged to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity The Men’s Monthly Committee Meeting has been postponed until Monday 11th May at 8.00PM. Anyone willing to serve refreshments at this weekend’s fixture is asked to contact Eunan or Declan as soon as possible. Registration for a six week Irish language course will take place in the clubrooms on Thurs. 7th May at 8.00pm. Everyone welcome. Minors had an excellent win over strabane on Tuesday night. Seniors and Reserves have away fixtures against Drumquin on Sunday. Senior game 2.15pm, Reserve 3.45pm. The reserves continued their promising start to the season with a draw against Killyman. The seniors lost by 3 points. Senior ladies will kick off their season away to Dromore on Friday night. Training continues on Thursday at 6.30 to 7.30 for all U6s, U8s and U 10s (boys and girls); all players welcome. The U 8s had their first blitz of the season last Saturday with Dan & Joe Mullan, Corey Patton, Joseph Coyle and Mark Kennedy all making their debut for Glenelly. They had games against Tattyreagh, Drumquin and host Club Greencastle; many thanks to Greencastle for their hospitality. The U10s have their second blitz this Saturday (25 April); details of venue and travel arrangements to be confirmed at training on Thursday. Sean McConnell and Eddie McCullagh are the 2 remaining competitors in the club’s Last Man Standing fundraiser. The u14s will continue their League Campaign with an away game to Dromore on Saturday 25th April at 11am. All players in Dromore for 10.30am. Festival meeting 30th April at 7.30pm in Glenelly house where vetting will be carried out for all volunteers in this year’s festival. Seniors and Reserves are away to Killyman on Sunday. Seniors- 4.30pm, Reserves- 6pm. The Reserves defeated Castlederg on Saturday while the Senior game ended in a draw. Upcoming Fixtures for Both Domhnaigh: Tuesday 14th April Minors away to Fintona at 7pm. Wednesday 15th April U14s away to Kildress at 7pm. Saturday 18th April U14s home to Drumragh at 11am. All players in Gortin for 10.30am. Tyrone GAA summer camp dates for Glenelly 17th – 20th August. Thanks to Martin McGurk of MMC Refrigeration and Liam Molloy of Express Cooling who each sponsored a set of Club Jerseys. Their contributions were very much appreciated. The official handover took place at half-time last Sunday. Congratulations to Finnian Devlin who won the Half-Time Draw at last Sunday’s match. Thanks to the ticket sellers who made this event possible. The Cow-Pat Competition date has been set for Sunday 31st May and tickets will soon be on sale. The U8s have their first blitz this Saturday (18 April) most likely to be held in Tattyreagh; confirmation and further details to be provided at training on Thursday. A catering rota is now being made out for all Adult players for Senior and Reserve games and will shortly appear in the Club changing rooms. Each player will be expected to nominate one match day fixture in order to provide food. The committee would ask that all teams leave the changing rooms in a neat and tidy state after each use – do not leave it to others to clean up after you. The Seniors and Reserves commence their league campaigns at home on Sunday against Castlederg. Senior game at 2.15pm, Reserve 3.45pm. Well done to the minors who defeated Beragh on a scoreline 6.10 to 3.15 on Tuesday. They train again on Thursday at 8pm in Plumbridge. The U14s have a game on Wednesday at 6.45pm v Beragh. The Club would like to thank everyone who participated in the clean-up last Saturday afternoon. Your efforts were very much appreciated. Thanks also to everyone who helped organise, attended, or bought tickets for the Film Evening in Plumbridge Hall last Sunday evening. It was certainly a very novel idea, and hopefully this will be the first of many such ventures. We are hoping to welcome ou Under-Age Players to take part in an exhibition Match during the Half-Time interval of our Senior Game this weekend. Please come along and cheer on the “Glenelly Stars of the future!” They will really appreciate your support. Contact Fergal McAneney for further details. There will be a short but very important meeting for ALL youth Coaches next Sunday evening at 6.00PM in the Clubhouse. It is essential that all coaches should attend. We are currently looking for someone to represent the Club as a senior referee for Ladies Matches. It is vital that Glenelly GFC has a representative in this field. If you’d like the challenge then please contact Lucy or Eunan as soon as possible. Congratulations to our Minor girls who had a very convincing win against Castlederg last Monday in Plumbridge.
