Glenelly St Joseph’s Youth Presentation takes place this Sunday 4thDecember in the Parochial Hall Plumbridge at 5.00pm. All the Club’s Youth from the Under 6s through to Under 16 level, Boys and Girls, will be recognised for their participation during the 2016 season whether it was attending training and or playing. Players who represented the Club on their respective Schools Teams are also to be recognised as also are those players who were involved with Tyrone / Tyrone Youth Academies. A playing member from both the Tyrone Men’s Senior Team & Ladies Senior Team will be Special Guests for the event. As before, it would be very much appreciated if Parents could help with the refreshments on the night. All roads lead to Leo’s this Saturday night (3rd December) for our Legendary Music Quiz. Admission is only £5 and as this is an important Club fundraiser we would like to see as many players and supporters attend this fun-filled event.First question at 9.30PM. The Men’s AGM has been pencilled in for Sunday 8th January 2017 at 5.00PM. As a major fundraiser the Club will be rolling out the GAA National Club Draw 2017. Prizes include a car, Trips with the 2017 All-Stars All-Ireland Football and Hurling packages Shopping Vouchers to the value of £1,000 etc. Tickets are priced at just £10 each and will be available very shortly. There are a small number of Glenelly GFC Golf Umbrellas still available from Catherine Conway and these would certainly make ideal Christmas presents. Mass for deceased members will take place in Sacred Heart Church Plumbridge on Sunday 18th December at 10.30AM and all members are asked to wear club gear on the day.Glenelly St. Well done to all our Junior Scor participants who recently represented the club. The club are very proud of their achievements and commend them on their performances in this years competition. The Ladies AGM did not take place last Sunday owing to a very poor attendance. The meeting has been rearranged for this Sunday(27th) at 6.30PM in the clubrooms and this will be the final opportunity to convene our AGM in 2016. Anyone interested in the future of Glenelly Ladies is expected to attend. Men’s committee meeting will take place on Monday night at 8.00PM in the Clubrooms as there are a few important matters to discuss. All committee members are asked to attend. There will be a Music Quiz in Leo’s Bar on Sat. 3rd December in aid of Glenelly G.F.C. Tickets available from Leo’s or Spar shop priced £5. All support would be appreciated for this venture as it is a night not to be missed. There are still a few Glenelly Golf umbrellas available from Catherine Conway and these would make excellent Christmas stocking-fillers. The Ladies AGM has been pencilled in for this Sunday 20th November at 6.00PM in the Clubrooms. If you are a player,or perhaps a former player, have children who play, or have just a keen interest in the continued success and wellbeing of Glenelly Ladies GFC and you feel that you can help out in any small way then please come along and volunteer your services. There will be lots of little ways in which you can help throughout the incoming year. Our Cairde numbers are continuing to grow and we would urge anyone who has not yet joined to contact any Committee member as soon as possible. The Club has commissioned a small number of Glenelly GFC Golf umbrellas, priced at £25 each and are now available from Catherine Conway. These are unique items and, like our JIgs & Reels tickets, when they’re gone – they’re definitely gone! As part of our fundraising activities we are hoping to organise a few quizzes before Christmas, and a sponsored walk on New Year’s Day from Cranagh to Plumbridge – this will be your opportunity to blow away those New Year cobwebs while shedding a few of those newly gained pounds! Strabane / Derry Council are subsidising a foundation award course for all Clubs in the Council area. The details of the course is as follows – Wednesday 23rd November – Child protection course @ 7:00pm; Saturday 26th November – Foundation award course @ 9:30am. Coaches must complete both course dates to get certified for the foundation coach award; Course Fee: £10. Anyone wishing to register must do so by Friday 18th November. Congratulations to Glenelly andOwen Roes U-16 girls who served up a very fine exhibition of Football during last Saturday’s Kevin Corey Tournament in Plumbridge. Many thanks to Marie Corey and Liam Kennedy for their help and a big Go Raibh Maith Agaibh to everyone who turned out to help and support on the day. Good Luck to Owen Roes Girls on their upcoming Final this weekend. As part of our Culture and commemoration ceremonies, the Club are hoping to run a bus trip to Dublin on Saturday 26th November visiting Croke Park and a number of historical sites around Dublin.Registration takes place this Friday evening at 7.00PM in the Clubrooms and will run dependant on numbers. Numbers are strictly limited -The Cost is £20 per adult and £10 for Senior Citizens and Minors .Please note that all minors must be accompanied by an adult and that Glenelly St Joseph’s will not be responsible for any child supervision. Glenelly St Joseph’s would like to thank everyone who helped out last Saturday evening to make our Jigs & Reels Extravaganza such an outstanding success in St Pat’s Hall. Comhgairdeas to all the participants and winners on the night and a big Go Raibh Mile Maith Agaibh to everyone who attended or supported the event. Commiserations to anyone who could not acquire a ticket but plans are afoot to showcase the dancers and musicians at a local venue in the near future, so watch this space. As senior football has now ended for the season for the Ladies and the Men, the Committee would like to thank our Managers, Coaches supporters and players for all their toil, effort and support throughout 2016. The first round of the Reserve championship takes place on Saturday afternoon at 3.30pm in Plumbridge v Errigal Ciaran. All roads lead to St Pat’s Hall Strabane this Saturday evening for our big night of the year – our Jigs & Reels Extravaganza. Doors open at 7.30PM and our first dancers will take to the stage at 8.00PM sharp. This event is now sold out, so patrons are urged to arrive in good time – there will be no admittance once the dancers take to the stage. There will be a late bar and disco to follow so a full evening’s entertainment is assured. Well done to the Mothers and Others team who travelled to Dublin last weekend to take part in the All Ireland 7-a-side tournament. Training for under 16 girls continues at the usual times, with further information regarding their league re-fixture against Trillick awaited. Seniors and Reserves have away fixtures v Castlederg on Saturday. Reserve game at 3.15 Senior 4.45pm. The Club would like to congratulate the organisers of our recent Golf Classic in Newtownstewart, recognising the massive level of commitment and dedication that was required to make the event such a huge success. Maith sibh a chairde! A special word of thanks to everyone who supported, sponsored or participated in the competition and congratulations to all the various prizewinners on the day: Men’s section- 1st prize – Ryan Daly’s team – 118points; 2nd Prize – Ciaran Dunphy team – 113 points; 3rd Prize – Mark McNamee team – 108 points. Ladies Team 1st Prize – Helen McGaughey team – 99 points. Final preparations are now taking place for our Jigs & Reels Extravaganza that will take place in St Pat’s Hall Strabane on Saturday 22nd October in what is sure to be the night of the year! The Seniors and Reserves have home fixtures on Saturday v Newtownstewart. Reserves at 2.45pm, Seniors 4.15pm. The Glenelly Golf Classic takes place this Saturday in Newtownstewart. Teams of 4 any combination, £100/team, includes fry at the end of your round. Prizes for Golfers & Non Golfers, Ladies & Gents. Early morning tee times are available so get out there early if you wish. To help with the everyday running costs of the club, all senior players and supporters who are unable to attend could support this event by sponsoring a tee. The cost is only £30 and will be collected at 7.30PM on Friday night in the Clubrooms.There are a few tickets left for our Jigs & Reels Extravaganza and these will be sold at our Box-Office this Friday night at 7.30 in the Clubrooms. Well done to our U 10s who reached the semi-final of the Gerard O Doherty Memorial Cup, held last Saturday at Strabane Sigersons, knocked out by the eventual winners Termon. Many thanks to Strabane for their hospitably. Last Saturday also marked the end of the season for the U6s, U 8s and U 10s. Many thanks to all those who helped throughout the season including the coaches, the referees when hosting blitzes and the parents for their assistance with travel, refreshments & the upkeep of the jerseys. Thanks also to the children for their attendance at training and also at the blitzes on Saturday mornings; the Youth Presentation to be held later this year will provide a further opportunity to recognise their participation. Both Domhnaigh U13s play Greencastle on Sunday at 12 noon. As we are drawing closer to our Golf Classic on 8th October suitable tee times are becoming increasingly limited.
